Aspects In Astrology

This list is simplified of the symbolism of some of Astrology’s most influential angles and essential and quick lessons about aspects. This list aims to help you become familiar with the angles’ range of symbolism. So you can improve and know the best and worst times to do various activities, predict when various events will happen, help you understand yourself or others, Etc.

Types of Aspects:

Enhancements and Linkages:

A term in Scientific or Magi Astrology refers to a condition where any of the following aspects exist: conjunction, trine, quincunx, parallels, contra-parallel, or contra-latitude.

Pure Enhancements and Linkages:

A term in Scientific or Magi Astrology refers to a condition where any of the following aspects exist: conjunction, trine, or parallel.

Minor Enhancements:

A term in Scientific or Magi Astrology refers to a condition where any of the following aspects exist: semi-sextile or sextile.

Clashes and Turbulent:

An aspect is made by a Square 90° or Opposition 180° angle. If the aspect is a Saturnian aspect, it could also be a quincunx 150°, contra-parallel, or contra-latitude.

Minor Clashes and Turbulent:

A term in Scientific or Magi Astrology refers to a condition where any of the following aspects exist: semi-square or sesquisquare.

Zodiac5 and Chaos:

A term in Scientific or Magi Astrology refers to a condition where any of the following aspects exist: quintiles or biquintiles. These alignments tend to go well with turbulent aspects, mainly because they show pure chaos and confusion due to their unpredictable and overwhelming nature. So, if you want additional information regarding finding issues, use the Zodiac5 side by side with Zodiac8 angles. In a birth chart, they can show the unpredictable and out-of-nowhere skills that would appear when the subject works on their skills.

Zodiac7 and Bonds:

A term in Scientific or Magi Astrology refers to a condition where any of the following aspects exist: septiles, biseptiles, or triseptiles. Bonds will act like an enhancement if there is no Saturnian point involved. If a Saturnian point is involved, it will act like a turbulent aspect. The significant difference is that they are 16 times more potent, for they are rare.

Zodiac8 and Turbulence:

A term in Scientific or Magi Astrology refers to a condition where the following aspects exist: semi-square, square, sesquisquare, or opposition. This set of aspects is issues all around, from minor to major. Reading these aspects in a birth chart shows what skills you can attain through sheer hard work and discipline.

Zodiac10 / Deciles:

A term in Scientific or Magi Astrology refers to a condition where the following aspects exist: decile, quintile, tridecile / sesquiquintile, biquintile, or opposition. See Zodiac5 and Zodiac8.

Standard Zodiac 12:

A term in Scientific or Magi Astrology refers to a condition where the following aspects exist: conjunction, semi-sextile, sextile, square, trine, quincunx, and opposition. This aspect set is what nearly every astrologer uses, which is why it is referred to as the Standard Zodiac 12.

Note about conjunctions, trines, and Parallels are pure enhancements. They are considered positive unless one or more of the bodies or points involved is a Saturnian planet/point or Juno, in which case even these can be problematic. Side note, if Juno is involved in the pure enhancement and the other is Jupiter or Chiron, it will be positive instead of problematic.

Rule of Enhancement Dominance:

In favorable geometric patterns, the rule of Enhancement Dominance will prevail 77% of the time. Enhancement angles in a geometrical pattern will switch the negative symbolism of any Clash angle in the same geometrical pattern, transforming the negative into a positive.

Rule of Offsets:

In interpreting Clash Aspects, the symbolisms of celestial bodies and celestial points will be viewed and focused on negative symbolism. This fact will be valid for two-celestial Clash Aspects. If the Clash aspect is part of the favorable Planetary / Celestial Geometry, the rule of Enhancement Dominance will prevail about 77% of the time. However, if Saturn is a part of the Clash Aspect, the negative symbolism from the Clash will not be revered as something positive but will be strengthened. This event is referred to as Offset and is only used in Sysnatry / CAC (Chart Alignment Chart), Events, and Historical Charts. This rule will not work and shall not be used in Natal / Birth Charts.

It is crucial to note that though an aspect or geometric pattern may have negative symbolism, whether, by transits or progressions, all celestial alignments in a Birth Chart can represent a gift and skills that you can attain if you do the work.

Matching Symbolisms / Aspect Confirmation:

Planetary / Celestial Geometry works 100% of the time; however, it will only work the way you want it to in a chart when using matching categories of the Celestial symbolisms. For example, if you want to start a financial or business endeavor, you will only need powerful geometric patterns of financial and success celestial symbolism categories; categories related to romantic or sexual relationships would be unnecessary in a business or financial endeavor.

Rules for Identifying Strengths of Planetary / Celestial Geometry:

The more celestial bodies or midpoints included in a geometric pattern, the more influential the geometric pattern. Symmetrical patterns are more potent than asymmetrical patterns, for they are rare.

The closer the geometric pattern’s peak, the more influence the pattern has. Applying patterns is much stronger than separating patterns.

If the pattern has powerful celestial bodies and or midpoints involved, the pattern has much more importance. Such powerful planets to watch out for are Jupiter, Saturn, Chiron, Ixion, Quaoar, Varuna, Sedna, Odin, Midas, and midpoints that include the celestial bodies mentioned in this list: For example, Jupiter/Venus Midpoint, Neptune/Chiron Midpoint, Mercury/Odin Midpoint, Etc.

How To Use Zodiac Signs

This little article is of sections from books that the Magi Society has written on how they use the 12 signs of the zodiac when reading a chart. These quotes and sections from the books have been organized to show the zodiac signs' pitfalls and common misunderstandings. At the same time, they are showing how to use them more accurately.

In a later article, I will give a simplified list of rules and notes on how to use the 12 signs in case you cannot understand what the Magi Society has explained.

The Magi Society's Ephemeris: Including Secrets Of Magi Astrology (Published October 1996) (Page 109)

Chapter Eight: Secrets Of Magi Astrology

M/Qs AND MDXs ARE MORE IMPORTANT THAN THE ASTROLOGICAL SIGN POSITIONS OF THE PLANETS
Astrologers have always correctly believe that the influences of a planet vary as it moves from one astrological sign to another, The Magi Society, of course, agrees that there is no question that each planet manifests itself differently in each of the 12 signs, But we believe standard astrology has given too much weight to the sign positions of the planets when interpreting a birth chart

The work of the Magi Society, and other researchers into astrology, clearly points to the conclusion that the sign placements of planets have no provable influence on intelligence, aptitudes, professional skills and capabilities, money-making potential, physical strength and athletic prowess, learning capacity or memory, communication facility, Etc. The signs are most accurate in forecasting the personality and the emotional makeup of a subject, but not the capabilities, special talents and aptitudes. The Magi Society believes that Multiple-Planet Aspects are the key astrological influences on a person's special abilities and ultimate potential.

Astrology Really Works! (Published in July 1995)

Chapter Three: How We Will Prove Astrology (Page 37 - 38)

How People Have Tried to Prove Astrology in the Past
Astrologers and others have made many failed attempts to prove that astrology works. But they have focused their efforts on trying to prove the validity of the 12 signs of the zodiac. For a very long time, astrologers believed that people born with their Sun in certain signs were more prone to engage in certain professional activates. For example, many of us have heard of the familiar astrological idea that Leos are good actors or actresses. And, supposedly, a female Virgoan makes a good secretary. Many astrologers have done massive statistical studies on such so-called astrological relationships between the Sun sign of an individual and the professions. Guess what? None of the relationships were STATISTICALLY VALID, meaning that none of the relationships were proven when subjected to statistical test generally used by scientists. What this means to us is that either the relationships are not valid, or that it is virtually impossible to prove anything based on the 12 signs of the zodiac.

The Importance of Aspects
The Magi Society has found that aspects are the most important part of a birth chart. Strangely enough, aspects represent the one area of natal charts that is emphasized least by astrologers. Virtually all astrology books we have seen concentrate on the 12 signs and the calculated points. They do not discuss the aspects as much as they should. In fact, many astrologers are uncomfortable talking about aspects. They actually try to avoid them in their interpretation of a chart.

Because most astrologers place little value on the aspects, the general public has been conditioned to disregard the aspects. One of the founders of the Magi Society vividly remembers being at a party where he met a woman named Joyce who told him that she was a Capricorn, with Moon in Leo and Scorpio rising. She informed our founding member that her husband, George, was a Taurus, with Moon in Aries and Pisces rising. She wanted to know if her astrologer Was correct in assessing that this was a good match. The Magi told her that he would have to analyze both charts carefully before giving her an answer. But the Magi wanted to know what the important aspects were in both charts and asked Joyce for them. Joyce did not know. This is because her astrologer, like almost all other astrologers, did not focus on aspects. When is the last time anyone told you what their aspects were? Or asked you what your aspects were? Probably never. But it is very common for someone to ask you what your sign is—that's for sure!

Remember all those charts from the last chapter? The similarities between the charts corresponding to certain dates were not determined by the signs that the planets were in. The similarity lay in the types of aspects each day had.

Now as it turns out, Joyce, the lady at the party, was born with Neptune conjunct her Sun. To a Magi, that is very meaningful. For one thing, in our research and studies of astrology, we have learned that Neptune is the fountain of youth. Honest. Anyone whose Sun is conjunct to Neptune, or trined by Neptune, looks much younger than anyone else their age. They are also less prone to injuries and recover faster if they are injured. And they are gentle individuals, generally letting things slide off their shoulders; therefore, they are rarely aggressive. They are trusting and make great friends, love to party, and will imbibe. They do not resist you if you pour them a drink; in fact, they do not resist you if you pour them ten drinks. And charm! People with this aspect are the most charming people you can possibly hope to meet.

You can figure all of this out from one aspect, the knowledge that a person has Neptune trine or conjunct his or her Sun at birth, And it does not matter at all what sign the Sun is in.

One significant astrological aspect says a lot about someone. Now we agree that the Sun in Capricorn does give us a great deal of information about the native. For example, two of Capricorn's KEYWORDS are aspiringly and calculatedly. But there is a big difference between being aspiring as opposed to being calculated. Ambition is a positive attribute; it's a necessity for anyone who wants to attain lofty goals and realize their dreams. But being calculated is a two-edged sword. A calculated person is often not trustworthy, especially where his or her own interests conflict with yours. In our experience, it is possible to know which of these two characteristics people have by knowing the aspects to their Sun. If they have positive aspects to their NATAL Sun, then they will have the good qualities of the Sun's sign. If they have stressful aspects to their Sun, they generally will have some of the negative characteristics of the Sun's sign. For this reason, it is paramount to know the aspects.

In addition, most major aspects have keywords of their own, regardless of the sign that the aspect is in. For example, a Pluto conjunction to the Sun is very powerful. The conjunction's astrological description is: the desire for power, and the ability to obtain it. This conjunction acts the same in all signs and can occur in any sign, and the individuals will all be essentially the same, but the sign will add its own little spin to it. A Capricorn with the Sun conjuncted by Pluto will have the greatest desire for power and the greatest ability to achieve it. The possession of power can become an obsession with such people. On the other hand, individuals with this aspect at birth who are Aquarians will have a much tamer desire for power. They will still desire it and will still have the ability to achieve it, but the desire will not become obsessive.

All aspects are important, but the aspects to the Sun are the most crucial; they determine the kind of day it really is and therefore the primary inner desires of the person born on that day. The aspects by Jupiter or by Saturn to any of the major planets are the second most important. But aspects between planets other than the Sun are never as significant as an aspect involving the Sun. For example, it is generally agreed that the Saturn square Pluto aspect is a negative aspect. And this is true, in general. However, Saturn and Pluto move so slowly that this aspect could occur for several weeks in a row. If all of the days that had this aspect were automatically considered negative because of this one aspect, we would be in for some really long-lasting tough times. But this is not the case, because in our research we have found that a day with such an aspect is not bad unless the aspects to the Sun are also problematic. This is another example of aspect integration and how we always need to take into consideration all of the aspects of a birth chart.
